Replica Education 101

What is a replica?

The answer to this question is not as straight forward as it should be. A lot of people have this misconception that a replica is something fake. This is abominably incorrect. Another misconception of a replica is that it is a counterfeit product. The definition of counterfeit is something that is imitated with the intention to deceive or defraud. Again, this is incorrect. A replica is not something that is counterfeit unless you are presenting it as the authentic product. People are well aware that replicas exist - and vastly search for them.

A replica is not something that is fake or deceiving, a replica is a duplicate of something; an exact model or copy of something.

The idea that a replica is something fake comes from a decade ago when low quality imitations of high-end brands flooded the market. These products were poorly made, and were not duplicates. They were grossly flawed, and would fall apart within a day or two. Needless to say, no one likes to feel cheated of their money. A lot of animosity grew out of this, and this decade old stigma has followed the modern day replica.

Now, we are not saying that ALL replicas are great, because we know they're not. However, not all replicas are the same. There are different qualities; there are different intentions that every replica seller/supplier has.

Most replica sellers have only one intention: "I WANT TO MAKE AS MUCH MONEY AS POSSIBLE!". This is where the stigma gets fed, as these sellers do not care about the quality of their products; it is all about quantity.

The basic equation: The more products sold, the more money is made. Mass Production + Insanely Low Prices - High Quality Materials = MAXIMUM PROFIT (pay close attention to the subtraction).

Most "replica" products on the market are mass made with low quality materials and sold at a really low price. The cheaper the product is, the more customers you get, the more money you make. You may think you're getting a bargain, but the reality is bittersweet: you get what you paid for; there isn't much effort put into these bags, and they're not actually replicas. As stated before, a replica is an exact model/copy of something - which is not what you're being sold. It may look the same as the authentic bag, but compare it next to the authentic bag and you're sitting with an embarrassing waste of material.

Don't be fooled by product pictures either. Most replica sellers (especially from China) use product photographs of the actual authentic poducts to promote their business. Product photographs are also stolen from legitimate websites (like ours have been) and used to mislead people. The harsh reality: That bag that looked exactly like the authentic bag in the picture that was sent to you by a really "honest and well mannered" seller was probably the actual authentic bag - and not the bag you're being sold.

Here are some IMPORTANT facts that you need to know before deciding to purchase that "really affordable" bag:

1. It is NOT a replica. It is a counterfeit product. Yes, counterfeit meaning something that is imitated with the intention to deceive or defraud.

2. You may think you have received a "good" replica, but you've actually received something that is a "fake". When compared to the authentic bag, it is extremely obvious.

3. WHEN you are unsatisfied and angry at what you have received, there is no customer service to complain to. 9/10 times the person who sold the product to you blatantly ignores you.

4. You have wasted money you could have invested into something that will last a lifetime - and then some.

It may come across as though we are defaming every other replica seller, however, we are merely stating facts. Our intention is to educate you in all things replica so that you get your money's worth. We know that low prices are appealing, but they're too good to be true. A 'real', High Quality replica does not cost close to nothing to make. It takes a lot of time, effort and meticulous planning to make just ONE bag. Every detail is supposed to be accurate.

We have noticed that a lot of bloggers grade their replicas - and praise their "replica" bags for "really good quality for a replica bag". Replicas are not supposed to be good quality; a replica is supposed to be PERFECT, because it is supposed to be an exact duplicate. If it is anything less than 10 out of 10, then we're sorry to say, it is not a replica. It is a counterfeit bag.

Here at Authentic AF., we sell the real deal. We are transparent with our customers, and will not advocate for anything other than perfection.
